07.23.15 – Patricia King, Bill Prankard, Rob Parker, Faytene Grasseschi & Stacey/Wesley Campbell Share Regarding the Upcoming Federal Election, Important National Events & Launched!

unnamedEven though the federal election has not been officially called, nor election day announced, for all intensive purposes the campaign is on. This summer all of the federal parties are in full swing campaigning across the nation in attempts to win the favour of Canadians.

Many national commentators, both Christian and secular, have been saying that this is the most important election that Canada has seen in some time. We could not agree more. Many things are on the line with this election: our economy, key moral issues and Canada’s role on the international stage – especially as it pertains to our friendship with Israel. Because of this MY Canada is organizing several initiatives to help equip you for effective civic engagement during this election…[To read full article click here].

06.10.15 – Controversial Law Passed in Ontario, Freedom of Conscience Motion Tabled, Truth and Reconciliation Commission & More

MY CanadaLast Thursday, all three Ontario provincial government parties collaborated together to pass Bill 77. The bill makes it illegal to provide psychotherapy to a minor who is experiencing unwanted homosexual or transgendered feelings – even if they are requesting the therapy.

LifeSiteNews reported that, “National Post columnist Barbara Kay called the bill a “dangerous overreach” because politicians were deciding for psychiatrists what was treatable and what wasn’t.” They also reported that, “Dr. Joseph Berger, an eminent Toronto psychiatrist…called the bill “ill-advised.”…[To read full article click here]

05.30.15 – Update On Doctor Assisted Suicide: Give Us Time Campaign & The Justice Minister Sticks Up for TWU

unnamedThis past February the Supreme Court of Canada made the bold decision to strike down all laws restricting physician-assisted suicide in Canada and gave Parliament one year to pass legislation before their ruling comes into effect. Justice Minister Peter MacKay has said that no legislation will be introduced prior to the upcoming federal election in October. This means there will only be a short window of time between when Parliament sits again and the deadline set by the Supreme Court and it is therefore unlikely that legislation will be passed prior to the deadline…[To read full article click here].

04.22.15 – Anti-Terror Bill To Be Voted On This Week, New Information On Ontario’s S-x Curriculum & Standing With James Lunney

AntiTerrorBillC51Bill C-51 (commonly referred to as the “anti-terrorism bill”) is set to go to final reading this week in the House of Commons. It was introduced in January by the Conservatives as a response to the recent terror threats and attacks in Canada.

If passed Bill C-51 would change national security measures significantly. The legislation gives the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) the ability to expand no-fly lists, allow police to have greater control in limiting the movement of a suspect and increase the amount of time they can be kept in preventative detention. It would also allow for increased intelligence sharing between law enforcement agencies…[To read full article click here]

04.11.15 – Call To Prayer, Fasting & Gathering Regarding Ontario’s S-x Education, Update on Freedom of Speech & I Want 2 Live Campaign

BMORespondsIn our February 27th national communication we shared with you how Canadians were organizing on March 4th to “Move Their Money” from the Bank of Montreal (BMO). This action was in response to a letter written by a BMO’s VP Simon Fish, on BMO letterhead, to the Upper Law Society of Canada opposing the Christian school Trinity Western University. Click here to view this letter.

We recently received report that BMO seem to be responding to the actions of Canadians. An internal memo sent to branch managers instructed them to apologize to any clients who complain about the letter. Though the instruction to apologize is encouraging, there is no promise that BMO will not participate in similar actions in the future… [To read full article click here].

04.01.15 – MP James Lunney Make A Bold Move To Speak Freely About His Christian Faith In Parliament & Physician’s Freedom of Conscience Under Fire

JamesLunneyMoveYesterday MP James Lunney made a courageous move to become an independent MP in the House of Commons so that he can speak his Christian views openly without it creating any drama for the Conservative Party.

Lunney’s decision came after he made a personal statement on his twitter feed reflecting his beliefs. This statement triggered a flurry of hostile tweets back to Lunney.

In a statement explaining his decision to leave the Conservative Caucus Lunney explained, “My remarks [on Twitter] were inflated by media, blended with other unrelated but alleged heretical statements and became a top story on national media creating a firestorm of criticism and condemnation…Today I am announcing that I have asked the speaker to assign me a seat as an independent MP. [To read full article click here]

02.06.15 – Breaking News: What You Can Do In Light of Today’s Supreme Court Ruling In Favour of Doctor Assisted Suicide

AssistedSuicideRulingIn a watershed decision the Supreme Court of Canada announced their ruling early today in Carter v. Canada which overturned the law prohibiting doctor assisted suicide in Canada. The ruling reversed the previous 1993 Supreme Court decision where the judges at the time concluded that it was the state’s responsibility to “protect the vulnerable.” Today they decided the opposite.

What does this mean practically?

It means that when the ruling takes effect it will be legal for Canadian doctors to help kill adults who are requesting to end their lives as long as they are deemed to be mentally competent and suffering intolerably (physically or psychologically). The parameters of what it means to be “mentally competent” or “suffering intolerably” is subjective…[click here to read full article]

Mifepristone has been approved in 60 countries and is heraled by some as ‘safe and effective’ in spite of the fact that a study in 2011 by the US Food and Drug Administration reported otherwise. This study reported that there were 2200 adverse effects including: 14 US deaths, 58 ectopic pregnancy, 256 infections, and 339 incidents requiring transfusion. AssistedSuicideS225On Tuesday December 2nd Conservative Senator Nancy Ruth, alongside Liberal Senator Larry Campbell, introduced Bill S-225 which, if passed, would make assisted-suicide legal in Canada. Two days later the bill went to second reading.

The aim of the Senators is to have the bill quickly passed through the Senate to ensure the debate takes place in the House of Commons before the next election.

There are many concerns with S-225.

12.02.14 – Highlighting 2 Important Issues: Rape / Gendercide and Get A Free PDF Book For Your Giving This Giving Tuesday

RapeandGendercideWhen our team was at Parliament a week and a half ago we learned of two noteworthy initiatives being pushed forward by Members of Parliament. The first is MP Rob Ander’s Private Member’s Bill (C-570) and the 2nd is MP Mark Warawa’s continued work in Parliament regarding the issue of gendercide.

Rob Ander’s bill C-570 will soon come to the House of Commons for it’s first hour of debate. This bill seeks to put the word “rape” back in the Criminal Code. Mr. Anders is also pushing for harsher sentences for those convicted of rape. The current system allows those convicted of multiple rape offenses to serve their sentences congruently. What this means practically is if a person is convicted of 3 rape offenses and sentenced to 5 years in prison for each instead of serving 15 years they could serve feasibly serve all 3 sentences congruently (serving 5 years in total as opposed to 15)….[click here to read full article]…

11.05.14 – Prostitution Law Passes Through the Senate, Release by Joy Smith

joy-smithNews Release

MP Joy Smith Applauds Senate Passing of Bill C-36

November 5, 2014

Ottawa, ON – Yesterday evening, the Senate of Canada passed Bill C-36, Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act. With the passage of Bill C-36, Canada has established a new approach to addressing prostitution that recognizes the harm prostitution causes to women and youth.

“I am delighted with the passing of Bill C-36. This is a historic moment for equality and women’s rights in Canada,” says MP Joy Smith. “For the first time in Canada’s history, the buying and advertising of sexual services will be illegal, and the government will provide robust funding to help women and youth escape prostitution.”

“I especially want to thank the courageous survivors, victim service organizations and law enforcement who have advocated for these changes. Their relentless campaign to promote the equality of women has been heard,” says MP Joy Smith. “I also want to thank the Hon. Peter Mackay, Minister of Justice and Attorney General, for his unwavering leadership on this issue. The passage of Bill C-36 is a testament to his firm commitment to promoting the dignity and equality of women.”

“For years, women’s advocacy groups have been calling for a paradigm shift in Canada’s policy on prostitution. Bill C-36 accomplishes this by formally recognizing the harms of prostitution on women and children and makes the goal of the legislation to reduce and discourage prostitution,” says MP Joy Smith. “Under Bill C-36, Canada is saying loud and clear, we do not accept that women, children and vulnerable individuals are commodities to be bought and sold.”

“A truly progressive society encourages the equality and dignity of women, not the prostitution of women,” states MP Joy Smith. “I want to build a Canada that targets predators and pimps, helps vulnerable individuals escape prostitution, and upholds the dignity of women. We can do better for women and youth, and with the passing of Bill C-36, we will.”

Having been adopted by the Senate of Canada, Bill C-36 is expected to receive Royal Assent shortly. The provisions of the Bill will come into force 30 days after Royal Assent, meeting the December 19, 2014 deadline set by the Supreme Court of Canada.

08.18.14 – Special Communications From Our Director In Light of the Ebola Outbreak

LiberiaEbloaFrom Faytene Grasseschi

It was my deep honour to spend some of my beginning years in Christian work in the back woods of West Africa, Liberia. The land, the people, and what God was doing there were all absolutely beautiful. Never in my life have I ever encountered a people who in the midst of profound struggle with things such as war, terror, hunger, disease and more had such joyful determination to overcome. I quickly fell in love with this nation and it’s people.

Ironically, it was while I was in Liberia that the Lord began to speak to my heart regarding His concern for Canada. While I served the poor in this nation during the day, in my evening prayer times began to be filled with a sense that God was challenging me to be a missionary in my own nation. These prayer times in Liberia were the beginning seeds of what has become MY Canada and also TheCRY Movement.

Over they years Liberia has maintained a special place in my heart and at times I have asked the Lord, “Is there something more we can do?” When the ebola outbreak hit national news this past week my heart was gripped….[Click here to read full article.]…

06.17.14 – 2 Announcements and A Word From Faytene Grasseschi (Our Director)

JusticeWallAnnounceA word from Faytene Grasseschi:

In 2007 we launched something called the Life Prayer Wall (24-7 Prayer Siege for Life) out of a vision I had at the National House of Prayer. In a visionary encounter while praying for Canada the Lord spoke clearly to my heart and said, “If the Church will pray 24-7 for the ending of abortion you will see it end in your generation, but if they don’t you won’t.”

The sense from the vision was that the core determining factor to whether or not we saw the ending of abortion in our generation was in the hands of the praying Church. If we as the Church did not pray, we would not see an ending to abortion, rather only a few small victories and a lot of tired activists….[click here to read full article]…

06.05.14 – Quebec Passes Doctor Assisted Suicide Bill – Sign The Petition to Repeal, and, Join Us In Prayer For Moncton

QuebecPassesAssistedSuicideYesterday, June 4th, the Quebec Provincial Government (the National Assembly) passed Bill 52, the doctor assisted suicide bill. The bill is the first of it’s kind to pass in Canada.

The concern with the bill is multifold. Other areas of the world who have gone this route (namely in western Europe) report an increasing level of doctor assisted suicides year by year. Reports suggests these types of bills have opened a pandora’s “death”-box.

Nations, such as Belgium, have taken laws so far as legalizing access to lethal injections for people with depression and to children. In Belgium reports have also shown that euthanasia has happened to people without request. The concern is that Quebec has opened the door to this same slippery slope with the passing of this legislation…[Click here to read full article.]…

Mr. Trudeau followed up his initial statements declaring that abortion was a Charter right and that his party (the Liberal Party) would resolutely defend the Charter. Finally, this past week when asked about the case of gendercide abortion Mr. Trudeau said he would indeed defend a woman’s right to choose abortion in all cases, including this one. MarchForLife2014Yesterday, Thursday May 8th, a reported 23,000 Canadians gathered at the Parliament of Canada to make a statement for life during the annual March for Life.
