08.18.2016 – August 18th, 2016 – BIG Changes Coming to Canada’s Electoral Process? Help Us Call on Government to Give All Canadians a Say with a Referendum

Electoral ReformELECTORAL REFORM COMING TO CANADA

As part of his election campaign, Justin Trudeau pledged that 2015 would be Canada’s last federal election under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system.

Throughout the summer months, an all-party Special Committee on Electoral Reform (ERRE) has been busy meeting to determine how Canadians will elect their government; Examining the various types of voting systems, considering the addition of online and/or mandatory voting, hearing and questioning witnesses, welcoming input from the public and discussing the idea of lowering the voting age to 16.

Many options are being explored. However, the Liberal government refuses to put this to a referendum, despite the fact that a referendum is the most robust, inclusive consultation process at our disposal….[Click here to read the full article].

08.08.2016 – August 8th, 2016 – TWU Law School Update: Celebrating A Big Victory in Nova Scotia, and the Battle for Freedom of Religion Continues in Ontario and BC

TWUUpdateTrinity Western University continues to contend for its constitutional freedoms of association, conscience, religion and expression currently being challenged by law societies in British Columbia, Ontario, and Nova Scotia. Prior to this year, Appeals Courts ruled in favour of TWU in B.C. and Nova Scotia, and against TWU in Ontario. These decisions were recently appealed in each province and it seems the battle is headed to the Supreme Court in the near future.

TWU’S ONTARIO DEFEAT
The Ontario Court of Appeals ruled on June 29th that the province’s law society was reasonable in their decision to withhold accreditation from TWU students. The court acknowledged that TWU’s freedom of religion WAS infringed upon but ruled that it was justified! Not only is this disappointing but also deeply concerning as it demonstrates that our Chartered freedom of religion has become secondary to the demands of the LGBTQ community in Ontario….[Click here to read the full article].

Trinity Western University (TWU) is continuing to struggle for the right to have its proposed law school recognized and future graduates permitted to practice law in all provinces.

Testimonies were presented in BC and Ontario Courts of Appeals this week in attempt to determine whether the law societies have infringed upon the religious freedom of the Christian university by refusing to recognize credentials simply because of the religious beliefs of the school and the students who go there.

TWU requires that all staff and students sign a Community Covenant Agreement which includes the understanding of sexual intimacy being reserved for marriage between one man and one woman. Governing law societies in BC, Nova Scotia and Ontario have refused to grant potential law graduates of TWU the accreditation required to practice law in the provinces, claiming that the university promotes discrimination against the LGBT community…[Click here to read the full article].

06.08.2016 – June 8th, 2016 – Assisted Suicide now LEGAL in Canada, plus Final Days to Influence the Senate on Bill C-14: E-mail all Canadian Senators within 5 Minutes

Senate4SUPREME COURT’S CARTER RULING: LAW OF THE LAND

Parliament has missed the Supreme Court’s deadline and assisted suicide officially became legal throughout Canada on Tuesday, June 7th. Since Bill C-14 is still in the Senate after being passed in the House of Commons, the Supreme Court’s ruling in Carter stands. It is now up to the provinces to determine how this ruling will be applied.

BILL C-14 IN THE SENATE:
The Senate’s Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee has chosen to forgo the usual procedure of recommending amendments to the Senate. This means that all Senators will be welcome to propose amendments.

By all accounts, it appears the bill could be put to a Senate vote by the end of this week at the earliest…[Click here to read the full article].

The bill now faces study, potential amendments, and votes in the Senate, and if amended will return again to the House for voting. 05.22.2016 – May 22nd, 2016 – We Need Your Help Calling Ottawa-Area Churches & Invitation to June 1st Rally on Parliament Hill

VOLUNTEERSOn Wed June 1st there will be an important rally at Parliament Hill to oppose euthanasia and assisted suicide at this critical time.

To help make this event as impacting as possible MY Canada is looking for volunteers to help with calling churches in the Ottawa and surrounding area to ensure they know about the rally.

CAN YOU HELP US BY VOLUNTEERING FOR A FEW HOURS THIS WEEK?

WHY THIS RALLY IS SO IMPORTANT:

05.18.2016 – May 18th, 2016 – Update: The Senate Could Be the Game Changer for Assisted Suicide & Join Us At Parliament June 1st for Important Rally

SenateGameChangerCTV News reported yesterday that Senators are saying that they will NOT pass the assisted suicide legislation (C-14) by the June 6th deadline. This could be great news.

There will NOT be a legislative void:
If the bill is not passed by the June 6th deadline, it could signal that the Senate may be the game changer on this issue. A slower process means that more time will be given to look at the legislation critically and allow for important debate.

Some have raised the concern that if C-14 is not passed by June 6th it will leave a legislative void and mean “anything goes” for assisted suicide in Canada. This is not true. If Bill C-14 does not pass by June 6th then the Supreme Court ruling will stand which only allows assisted suicide for “consenting adults with unbearable pain”. These parameters are actually more restrictive than C-14…[Click here to read the full article].

05.16.2016 – May 16th, 2016 – Report on a Successful March for Life and Update on Cassie and Molly’s Law Following First Hour of Debate in House of Commons

MarchforLife2016Last Thursday, the 19th annual March for Life took place in Ottawa. The event was hugely successful with an estimated 22,000 people in attendance, including a number of Members of Parliament, Senators and their families.

The primary focus was on the lack of any laws surrounding abortion in Canada with an added focus on the upcoming legislation on assisted suicide. Participants were also made aware of recent news that Canada will soon once again be funding abortions in developing countries.

This year’s overwhelming message, however, was one of encouragement for Canada’s pro-life movement as a whole to become even more politically active in the fight for the protection of our youngest, most vulnerable citizens and of the sick and elderly most at risk because of legalized assisted suicide…[Click here to read the full article].

05.11.2016 – May 11th, 2016 – Update on Assisted Suicide and Call for Continued Prayer and Fasting to See C-14 Defeated

rallyFirstly, we want to say a sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the three-day fast May 7-9th to pray for the defeat of the assisted suicide bill (C-14). As we pray and fast we are filling the bowls of intercession in heaven on this issue and believe that God’s is hearing.

UPDATE ON THE FINAL READING VOTE:
Though our Parliamentary sources expected the vote to potentially take place yesterday, May 10th, the final debate and vote has not yet happened. The bill is still in committee and expected to return to the floor of the House of Commons any day for this final vote.

The good news about this is that it gives us more time to pray, get the word out to our friends and family about the bill & to contact our MPs. Please keep praying, sharing and contacting our leaders. If C-14 passes the House of Commons, it will be debated and voted on in the Senate within the coming days/weeks.

All this means: we need to keep at it!… [Click here to read the full article].

04.22.2016 – Apr. 22nd, 2016 – Assisted Suicide Campaign Making an Impact (Please Join In), Gendercide Exposed In Canada & Apply to Meet with Alberta’s Government Leaders with MYC

The Canadian Medical Association Journal recently published two heartbreaking studies that prove gendercide is occurring in Canada as there is a higher than normal ratio of male to female babies being born. The gender imbalance increases significantly if the family already has existing female children. Basically, the study proves that some families abort baby girls until they have their preferred son.

The report states that this most often occurs among women who were born in India and who may have been taught culturally to consider baby girls as having less value than baby boys. It is wonderful that there are laws preventing women from having gender-selection abortions in India. However, this law DOES NOT EXIST in Canada…[Click here to read the full article].

There is good news and bad news in this.

THE GOOD NEWS:

08.01.15 – Health Canada Approves the Controversial and Dangerous Abortion Pill – What You Can Do

AbortionPillApprovalIt is with heavy hearts that we report to you that earlier this week it was announced that Health Canada has approved RU-486 (the controversial abortion pill). Unless reversed this could dramatically increase Canada’s annual abortion rate, which is already conservatively estimated at 100,000 lives a year.

In a statement issued by MP David Anderson on July 30th, he explained that the RU-486, “…is not only lethal to preborn infants, but is associated with 19 adult deaths in 11 years. While RU-486 is promoted as a safe and effective abortifacient, it is neither. It is a dangerous combination of drugs that destroys a woman’s tissues in the womb in order to kill her preborn child… [To read full article click here].

Lunney’s decision came after he made a personal statement on his twitter feed reflecting his beliefs. This statement triggered a flurry of hostile tweets back to Lunney.

In a statement explaining his decision to leave the Conservative Caucus Lunney explained, “My remarks [on Twitter] were inflated by media, blended with other unrelated but alleged heretical statements and became a top story on national media creating a firestorm of criticism and condemnation…Today I am announcing that I have asked the speaker to assign me a seat as an independent MP. [To read full article click here]

02.06.15 – Breaking News: What You Can Do In Light of Today’s Supreme Court Ruling In Favour of Doctor Assisted Suicide

AssistedSuicideRulingIn a watershed decision the Supreme Court of Canada announced their ruling early today in Carter v. Canada which overturned the law prohibiting doctor assisted suicide in Canada. The ruling reversed the previous 1993 Supreme Court decision where the judges at the time concluded that it was the state’s responsibility to “protect the vulnerable.” Today they decided the opposite.

What does this mean practically?

It means that when the ruling takes effect it will be legal for Canadian doctors to help kill adults who are requesting to end their lives as long as they are deemed to be mentally competent and suffering intolerably (physically or psychologically). The parameters of what it means to be “mentally competent” or “suffering intolerably” is subjective…[click here to read full article]

12.02.14 – Highlighting 2 Important Issues: Rape / Gendercide and Get A Free PDF Book For Your Giving This Giving Tuesday

RapeandGendercideWhen our team was at Parliament a week and a half ago we learned of two noteworthy initiatives being pushed forward by Members of Parliament. The first is MP Rob Ander’s Private Member’s Bill (C-570) and the 2nd is MP Mark Warawa’s continued work in Parliament regarding the issue of gendercide.

CRACKING DOWN ON RAPISTS (C-570)

Rob Ander’s bill C-570 will soon come to the House of Commons for it’s first hour of debate. This bill seeks to put the word “rape” back in the Criminal Code. Mr. Anders is also pushing for harsher sentences for those convicted of rape. The current system allows those convicted of multiple rape offenses to serve their sentences congruently. What this means practically is if a person is convicted of 3 rape offenses and sentenced to 5 years in prison for each instead of serving 15 years they could serve feasibly serve all 3 sentences congruently (serving 5 years in total as opposed to 15)….[click here to read full article]…

11.05.14 – Prostitution Law Passes Through the Senate, Release by Joy Smith

joy-smithNews Release

MP Joy Smith Applauds Senate Passing of Bill C-36

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 5, 2014

Ottawa, ON – Yesterday evening, the Senate of Canada passed Bill C-36, Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act. With the passage of Bill C-36, Canada has established a new approach to addressing prostitution that recognizes the harm prostitution causes to women and youth.

“I am delighted with the passing of Bill C-36. This is a historic moment for equality and women’s rights in Canada,” says MP Joy Smith. “For the first time in Canada’s history, the buying and advertising of sexual services will be illegal, and the government will provide robust funding to help women and youth escape prostitution.”

“I especially want to thank the courageous survivors, victim service organizations and law enforcement who have advocated for these changes. Their relentless campaign to promote the equality of women has been heard,” says MP Joy Smith. “I also want to thank the Hon. Peter Mackay, Minister of Justice and Attorney General, for his unwavering leadership on this issue. The passage of Bill C-36 is a testament to his firm commitment to promoting the dignity and equality of women.”

“For years, women’s advocacy groups have been calling for a paradigm shift in Canada’s policy on prostitution. Bill C-36 accomplishes this by formally recognizing the harms of prostitution on women and children and makes the goal of the legislation to reduce and discourage prostitution,” says MP Joy Smith. “Under Bill C-36, Canada is saying loud and clear, we do not accept that women, children and vulnerable individuals are commodities to be bought and sold.”

“A truly progressive society encourages the equality and dignity of women, not the prostitution of women,” states MP Joy Smith. “I want to build a Canada that targets predators and pimps, helps vulnerable individuals escape prostitution, and upholds the dignity of women. We can do better for women and youth, and with the passing of Bill C-36, we will.”

Having been adopted by the Senate of Canada, Bill C-36 is expected to receive Royal Assent shortly. The provisions of the Bill will come into force 30 days after Royal Assent, meeting the December 19, 2014 deadline set by the Supreme Court of Canada.

08.18.14 – Special Communications From Our Director In Light of the Ebola Outbreak

LiberiaEbloaFrom Faytene Grasseschi

It was my deep honour to spend some of my beginning years in Christian work in the back woods of West Africa, Liberia. The land, the people, and what God was doing there were all absolutely beautiful. Never in my life have I ever encountered a people who in the midst of profound struggle with things such as war, terror, hunger, disease and more had such joyful determination to overcome. I quickly fell in love with this nation and it’s people.

Ironically, it was while I was in Liberia that the Lord began to speak to my heart regarding His concern for Canada. While I served the poor in this nation during the day, in my evening prayer times began to be filled with a sense that God was challenging me to be a missionary in my own nation. These prayer times in Liberia were the beginning seeds of what has become MY Canada and also TheCRY Movement.

Over they years Liberia has maintained a special place in my heart and at times I have asked the Lord, “Is there something more we can do?” When the ebola outbreak hit national news this past week my heart was gripped….[Click here to read full article.]…

▪ Those on both sides of the conflict to come to salvation in Jesus and that He, the Prince of Peace, would fill their hearts and govern their actions.
▪ For protection over civilians on both sides of the borders.
▪ That the conflict would not escalate.
▪ For the Lord’s will to prevail in the land of Israel.
▪ Above all, for people to turn to Jesus and for revival throughout all the regions of Israel, the Gaza and West Bank.

Thank you for your prayers at this vulnerable time in Israel.

06.17.14 – 2 Announcements and A Word From Faytene Grasseschi (Our Director)

JusticeWallAnnounceA word from Faytene Grasseschi:

In 2007 we launched something called the Life Prayer Wall (24-7 Prayer Siege for Life) out of a vision I had at the National House of Prayer. In a visionary encounter while praying for Canada the Lord spoke clearly to my heart and said, “If the Church will pray 24-7 for the ending of abortion you will see it end in your generation, but if they don’t you won’t.”

The sense from the vision was that the core determining factor to whether or not we saw the ending of abortion in our generation was in the hands of the praying Church. If we as the Church did not pray, we would not see an ending to abortion, rather only a few small victories and a lot of tired activists….[click here to read full article]…

06.05.14 – Quebec Passes Doctor Assisted Suicide Bill – Sign The Petition to Repeal, and, Join Us In Prayer For Moncton

QuebecPassesAssistedSuicideYesterday, June 4th, the Quebec Provincial Government (the National Assembly) passed Bill 52, the doctor assisted suicide bill. The bill is the first of it’s kind to pass in Canada.

The concern with the bill is multifold. Other areas of the world who have gone this route (namely in western Europe) report an increasing level of doctor assisted suicides year by year. Reports suggests these types of bills have opened a pandora’s “death”-box.

Nations, such as Belgium, have taken laws so far as legalizing access to lethal injections for people with depression and to children. In Belgium reports have also shown that euthanasia has happened to people without request. The concern is that Quebec has opened the door to this same slippery slope with the passing of this legislation…[Click here to read full article.]…

06.04.14 – New Prostitution Legislation Cracks Down On Pimps, Perpetuators and Purchasers

ProstitutionLawAnnounceOver the last six months we have been alerting you about the forthcoming prostitution legislation and calling upon you to join us in contacting our Government about it.

You have likely already heard. We have amazing news!

Thousands of Canadians did contact our leaders and asked them to adopt a model (the Nordic Model) which would focus on criminalizing those who sell and buy s-x workers instead of the those selling sex (who are often victims of exploitation).

The government listened!…[Click here to read entire article.]…

05.29.14 – Justin Trudeau Radical Pro-Choice Comments Spark Debate, Prime Minister Harper’s Maternal Health Plan & Our Team in Cambodia

TrudeauAbortionDebateA few weeks ago Liberal leader Justin Trudeau shocked many by declaring that anyone carrying pro-life convictions would not be welcomed as candidates in the Liberal Party. Since that time the issue has been exploding in the headlines of several news outlets.

Mr. Trudeau followed up his initial statements declaring that abortion was a Charter right and that his party (the Liberal Party) would resolutely defend the Charter. Finally, this past week when asked about the case of gendercide abortion Mr. Trudeau said he would indeed defend a woman’s right to choose abortion in all cases, including this one. (Gendercide is the killing of a baby in the womb because of it’s gender.)…[click here to read full update]…

05.14.14 – This Is A Big Deal – Abortion To Be Debated In Parliament

ParliamentAbortionVoteThis is a big deal. In spite of the government’s insistence not to re-open the abortion debate in Parliament, it looks as though it is now being ushered to the forefront through a motion being tabled by a young outspoken pro-choice NDP MP named Niki Ashton.

Last week Ms. Ashton from Churchill, MB, put forward a motion that “…seeks to have members of Parliament vote on whether access to abortion is a ‘fundamental question of equality and human rights, both in Canada and around the world.’…[click here to read full article]…

05.09.14 – 23,000 Canadians Gather At Parliament For Life – You Can Still Add Your Voice

MarchForLife2014Yesterday, Thursday May 8th, a reported 23,000 Canadians gathered at the Parliament of Canada to make a statement for life during the annual March for Life.

The gathering happened on the heels of a statement by Liberal Party Leader, Justin Trudeau, that he would not allow anyone who is pro-life to run as a candidate for the Liberal Party. The statement by Mr. Trudeau, along with an ambush by two topless protesters during one of the speeches, brought the march into the national news spotlight yesterday.

This means we have an incredible opportunity right now to be a voice for the cause of life while our leaders and the media’s attention is on this important issue.

If you could not attend the March for the Life in person yesterday we encourage you to take this opportunity to let our leaders know that you are standing with those who stood on Parliament Hill for life yesterday…[click here to read full article]…

04.28.14 – Aborted Canadian Babies Used To Power Oregon Plant & Action Needed Regarding Fredericton Abortion Clinic Closure

AbortedBabiesOregonLast week LifeSiteNews.com ran a disturbing story revealing that the remains of aborted babies from British Columbia are ending up in a facility providing electricity to the residents of Oregon.

The article stated:

“… The province’s Health Ministry said in an email to the B.C. Catholic that ‘biomedical waste’ shipped to the U.S. to be incinerated includes ‘human tissue, such as surgically removed cancerous tissue, amputated limbs, and fetal tissue.’ ‘The ministry understands that some is transferred to Oregon. There it is incinerated in a waste-to-energy plant,” the email stated…'” …[Click here to read full article.]…

04.06.14 – Join Us In Prayer For Quebec’s Election

QuebecElectionDayToday is a big day for Quebec. It is the provincial election. It has been a very “colourful” election campaign with many twists and turns. Issues that have been on the table include separatism, the Quebec charter of values (which would restrict public-sector employees from wearing religious symbols) and the normal focus on the economy. Whichever way it turns, it will have a huge impact on Quebec.  Click here to read more.

03.28.14 – Forthcoming Prostitution Legislation & 2 Bills On Assisted Suicide Tabled

ProstitutionUpdatesquareThank you to those of you who faithfully participated in the Government’s on-line consultation regarding the forthcoming prostitution legislation.

As the national discussion continues we become more and more convinced that Joy Smith’s recommendation that the government adopt a “Canadian version” of the Nordic Model is the best way for Canada to go. This model focuses on criminalizing those who access prostitution services (Johns) as opposed to targeting the women (who are often victims of exploitation / trafficking). Many nations across Europe are beginning to see the Nordic Model as the new standard.

This past Thursday our leadership was a part of a strategy call where contacts at Parliament suggested that the government could announce their legislative direction as early as June. This means that we must continue to make our voices heard in this window of time where our leaders are deciding which way Canada will go on this important moral issue.  Click here to read more…
