CCCC Senate Update
On March 16th we released an update and call to prayer as Rev. John Pellowe from the CCCCs was about to appear before the Senate to discuss the value of religious charities in Canada and charitable status.
Thank you for praying.
Good news! The testimony appeared to be well received and the Senate seemed generally warm to religious charities.

NOT GOOD NEWS
Quebec Bill Banning Religious Symbols
Quebec tabled Bill 21 which seeks to ban government workers and those in authority (like doctors) from wearing religious symbols while at work. If passed, this law would affect many religious minorities.
Bill 21 is very controversial and is not supported by the Prime Minister.
Critics of the bill point out that it transgresses the fundamental Canadian right to religious freedom and could cause people to choose between their faith and their job.
This is the 5th time Quebec has presented legislation of this type.
Here are a few articles on the controversial Bill:
What You Can Do:
Contact In Quebec: If you are from Quebec, please contact your representative and ask them to vote against this bill. Click here to find your representative on the National Assembly’s home contact page.
Contact Nation Wide: Give your personal MP a quick e-mail and let them know that you value freedom of religion in Canada. Ask them to do whatever they can to stand for it at every opportunity. Click here to find your MP now.
Pray: Please keep the important issue of freedom of religion and conscience in Canada in prayer.
As most of you will already know, last week Jody Wilson-Raybould released an audio recording of a conversation with Michael Wernick that substantiated her testimony before the Justice committee regarding the SNC-Lavalin controversy.
This lead to the Liberal party kicking Ms. Wilson-Raybould and Ms. Philpott from caucus early this week. The two now sit as independent members. They will not be allowed to run as Liberal candidates in 2019.
The scenario has raised valuable conversation in our nation about integrity, transparency and how far partisan loyalty should go.
What You Can Do:
Encourage: If you are grateful for the courageous stance that both Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott have taken please take a moment to call or e-mail to encourage them.
Pray: As this controversy unfolds please continue to lift our leaders, and the media who are reporting on the situation, up in prayer. Let’s continue to agree for truth to be revealed and for everything that can be shaken, to be shaken in our nation.
1 Timothy 2:2: “Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.”
