12.14.2017 – Dec. 14th, 2017 – GOOD NEWS: Palliative Care Bill C-277 Receives Royal Assent // Now, Ontario Palliative Care Bill Needs Support this Week

Following the legalization of physician-assisted suicide with Bill C-14 in 2016, many have pointed out the lack of access to palliative care and the need for a national palliative care strategy in the nation.

Palliative care is the provision of comfort by way of medication to those suffering with terminal illnesses. It is estimated that only 30 percent of all Canadians have access to this type of care.

We are thrilled to report that MP Marilyn Gladu’s private member’s bill C-277 has passed third reading in the Senate, and received Royal Assent on Tuesday, December 12th.
