05.23.2017 – May 23rd, 2017 – Important update on Transgender Bill C-16 // In the Senate: Final vote happening soon

On May 18th, transgender “Bathroom Bill” C-16 passed the Senate committee stage following two weeks of hearings without any amendments or observations.

Bill C-16 will now face third and final vote in the Senate before it could potentially receive royal assent to become part of Canadian law.

This legislation would add the terms ‘gender identity’ and ‘gender expression’ to the Canadian Human Rights Act and Criminal Code and make it illegal to discriminate on the basis of these two categories, essentially allowing biological males the legal right to access girls’ washrooms/change rooms and forcing the use of a wide range of made-up pronouns such as “ze”, “zhe,” and “zir” for transgender individuals…[Click here to read the full article].
