04.11.2017 – Apr. 11th, 2017 – Special Ontario Alert: Help Support the Freedom of Conscience of Healthcare Professionals to Refrain from Participating in Assisted Suicide

As of June 2016 assisted suicide became legal in Canada and provinces are now required to create provincial laws to reflect the new federal legislation, Bill C-16.

Ontario has put forward its proposal in the form of Bill 84. Unlike other provinces however, Ontario’s bill does not include conscience protection for physicians and medical professionals.

The single regulator of the medical profession in Ontario, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), is forcing doctors to ignore their conscience or to act in violation of it in their new policy on doctor conscience rights.
