July 16,2018 Sex Ed Repeal In Ontario & The Potential Affect On Other Provinces

During his campaign newly elected Ontario Premier, Doug Ford, promised to repeal the provinces controversial sex ed curriculum and replace it with a new one. Premier Ford made good on his promise this week and announced the repeal.

The Globe and Mail pointed out that some parents, “…labelled it age-inappropriate, zeroing in on the new curriculum’s lessons on gender identity, same-sex marriage and masturbation and arguing parents should provide such information.” While the new curriculum is being is being written the previous one (from 1998) will be used.

June 20 – Marijuana Legislation Passes Final Vote In Senate

Cannabis (marijuana) has officially become legal in Canada.

Yesterday, C-45 passed in the Senate without 13 amendments that the Senate recommended. The Bill is headed toward Royal Assent. The Government has between 8 and 12 weeks before they can officially have marijuana for sale to give retail stores time to prepare. The government can choose the official date, but it is likely close to Labour Day 2018.

The main reason we are concerned about this legislation is that it makes recreational marijuana use legal for those 25 and under. Medical experts have repeatedly verified that the human brain is still developing at this time and that smoking marijuana can hinder brain development.

June 15 – TWU Religious Freedom Case, 7-2 Loss at Supreme Court

Dear Friends,

Today is a sobering day in Canada.

Hours ago the Supreme Court verdict regarding the TWU case was announced.

The ruling was about whether or not Trinity Western can impose a Christian code of values upon it’s s

tudents while attending it’s school (which includes a commitment to heterosexual conduct) and still graduate law students that will be able to practice in Canada. As stated in a CTV article posted today, “The cases pitted two significant societal values — freedom of religion and promotion of equality — against one another.”

TWU has lost.

We are still processing the implications of this ruling.

One thing we know for certain is that today’s ruling enforces that now, more than ever, is the time to get involved in electing legislators in the 2019 federal election that will make laws to protect religious freedom in Canada. Nominations are currently underway.

Let’s continue to pray for our nation, fast for our nation and get involved practically in working to keep her strong and free.

June 15 – Amendments Accepted and Rejected for Marijuana Bill, Soon Coming Vote

C-45 passed in the Senate with 46 recommended amendments sent back to the House of Commons this week. The House of Commons has accepted 26 of those recommendations, rejecting a few key amendments.

They have not agreed to ban “paraphernalia” with marijuana company’s logos from being sold. This was suggested to keep from advertising to youth.

They rejected provin

ces having authority to ban home growing.

They rejected a public registry of investors.

CTV NEWS: Click here to read a summary of the accepted and rejected amendments.

The House of Commons is expected to vote soon on the amended bill and send the bill back to the Senate for further discussion. It is reported that PM Trudeau is has been putting pressure on the Senate for them to pass it swiftly. That being said, the Senate could reject what the House has done to the bill. This means there is still time to act and pray (please do both).

So far the date for legalization is likely close to Labour Day 2018.

June 1st (Retro Post) – Intense Activity Between Canada & Israel / Good and Bad News

The month of May has proven to be a very interesting one for Canada and our relationship with the Israel.

Here is a quick timeline of events:

1 – On May 8th it was reported the Prime Minister Trudeau would apologize for the Government of Canada’s anti-semitic actions against the Jewish people during WW2, specifically with the rejection of the St. Louis ship. Click here to read more.

2 – On May 14th the US Embassy relocated to Jerusalem. It was reported that Canada ‘snubbed’ the event and did not attend.

3 – Shortly after this Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called for an independent inquiry into what he termed as “Israel’s excessive use of force” in a protest on May 14th that turned violent. Click here to read Justin Trudeau’s full statement.

4 – Andrew Scheer challenged Trudeau’s statement and called up him to equally denounce Hamas’s involvement in the clashes.

June 5th – Ontario VOTES In 2 Days // Party Platforms, Prayer & Where to Go

SPECIAL NOTICE REGARDING MARIJUANA BILL: Please also keep the Senate in prayer. They are expected to vote on the marijuana legislation on Thursday as well. There is still time to contact our Senators to share your heart with them about this issue. Click here to find out more.

In 2 days, on June 7th, Ontario will choose their new provincial government.

This election will affect over 1/3 of the nation’s population and will inevitably impact the rest of Canada. When Ontario’s economy and legislation is healthy it could affect the whole nation because of example and because of transfer payments. The inverse is also true.

No matter where you live, please join in praying for this important election.

If you live in Ontario we want to encourage you to get out and vote. As mentioned last week, we strongly encourage you to vote for the party that will be the best stewards of the provinces finances as this affects almost all other issues. According to Lisa Raitt, currently Ontario pays a billion dollars a month to interest on it’s debt. That could build a hospital a month. Management of provincial funds is a lead domino issue.

May 30th, Ontario Election – Prayer and Platforms of Major Parties

The province of Ontario, which is home to over 1/3 of Canada’s total population, is currently in a critical election with competing parties on the opposite ends of both social and fiscal spectrums.

If you live in Ontario, we strongly encourage you to get out and vote. This election is extremely important for the future of Ontario.

We encourage you to vote for the party that will be the best stewards of our finances (as this affects almost all other issues), not drive up the provincial debt/deficit and stand for family values & parental rights.

To help you we have composed a summary of the platforms of all three major parties below. We pray this is helpful for you as you prayerfully consider your choice.

If you do not live in Ontario, please join us in praying and fasting for Ontario at this important time.

Pray Ontario, an initiative to mobilize prayer for this election, has been releasing daily prayer directives and is organizing church based prayer gatherings all across the province. To find out more please visit prayon.ca.

We pray that players would walk, run and skate again. Thank You Lord for your miracle power. FGM permanently affects women physically, emotionally, socially and psychologically and it is illegal in Canada.

However, there have been reports of Canadian girls being taken overseas to have the procedure done and also of doctors being brought into Canada from other countries in order to perform the procedure here. 11.22.2017 – Nov. 22nd, 2017 – Save the Date: Nov. 26th // National Day of Prayer for Religious Freedom & Trinity Western University.

A number of organizations and churches have declared Sunday, November 26th to be a day set apart to pray for religious freedom in Canada and particularly for the successful resolution of the Trinity Western University (TWU) case, which has implications for the future of religious freedom of us all in Canada.

The TWU law case began in 2014 when law societies in three provinces across Canada denied accreditation to TWU’s proposed law school; British Columbia, Ontario, and Nova Scotia. The reason was that the school requires students to sign a community covenant agreement which includes a commitment to reserve sexual intimacy to the marriage of one man and one woman.

Last week, MY Canada’s 17th delegation took to Parliament Hill in the nation’s capital to meet with Canadian MPs and Senators. Our mission was to thank and honour them for their hard work on behalf of Canadians, to share our hearts on a number of issues, and to ask them to work to advance godly legislation in the nation.

Some of the issues the team spoke to our leaders about this year include pornography, gender-selective abortion, informed consent for women considering abortion, the legalization of marijuana, government spending & national debt, freedom of conscience, religion and speech, and more.

Following this informative meeting, we sent out an urgent alert requesting prayer for the Committee of Justice and Human Rights meeting taking place on Wednesday afternoon. 10.26.2017 – Oct. 26th, 2017 – Anti-Free Speech Ontario Bill 163 Passes // Bans Sidewalk Counselling Outside of Abortion Clinics

It was a sad day for freedom of speech, expression and assembly in Ontario yesterday with the passing of ON Bill 163.

Bill 163, which was fast-tracked through the legislature, creates so-called “safe zones” of 50-150 metres around the province’s 8 abortion clinics and the homes of abortionists and clinic staff. Peaceful pro-life protesting and counselling women against abortion will now be banned within these areas.

The Bill was put forward by Liberal ON Attorney General Yasir Naqvi, but it was the Ontario Conservatives who unsuccessfully proposed passing the bill immediately after it was introduced with no debate or committee hearings. The bill received all-party support at third vote yesterday, October 26th…[Click here to read the full article].

In meetings last month, motion sponsor MP Iqra Khalid kept her statements broad and indicated that her motion was intended to cover a study on religious discrimination in general. Parliamentarians are back in Ottawa this week as fall session resumed for Members of Parliament on Monday (Sept. 18th) and for Senators today (Sept. 19th).

This is an exciting time of year and a critical time for us to engage our Members of Parliament regarding some very key bills and issues that will be discussed, studied and voted on this fall.

These are a few of the current bills and issues we are tracking and – most importantly – what you can do about them:

Bill C-51: The government’s Bill C-51 aims to “clean up” the Criminal Code by removing legislation that is viewed as obsolete or redundant. Instead, the most common type of household now consists of a single person living alone (28.2 percent of all households). The data also shows the lowest level of households with children on record. The number of families with common-law and same-sex partnerships also showed an increase.

08.18.2017 – Aug. 18th, 2017 – Wave of Asylum Seekers Landing in Quebec this Summer // How Should We Respond?

As most of you already know, a wave of asylum seekers have jumped the Canadian border from the U.S. in recent weeks without passing through an official border crossing and have landed in Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle, QC.

It is estimated that close to 7,000 individuals have crossed into Quebec in the last 6 weeks alone, most of whom are originally from Haiti. Haitians in particular are crossing in significant numbers in response to the announcement that their Temporary Protected Status (TPS) in the U.S. is set to expire in January 2018.

According to the “Safe Third-Country Agreement” if someone is making an asylum claim in the U.S., they cannot make the same claim in Canada. One positive focus of the bill is to update Canada’s sexual assault laws and offer greater protection for alleged sexual assault victims. But the bill also seeks to remove a number of sections of the Criminal Code that are viewed as obsolete or redundant, often referred to as “zombie laws.”

The Standing Committee on Health has tabled their report based on motion M-47, the study of the harmful effects of violent sexually-explicit material.

There were strong indications that the report would be an excellent starting point on how to address the problem of pornography in Canada. However, in response to the report, motion sponsor MP Arnold Viersen has expressed disappointment that:

▪ Only two paragraphs of the report are devoted to looking at the impact of violent pornography on public health.
▪ The report is silent on academic research that violent and degrading pornography contributes to rape culture, objectifies women and subjects them to violent acts, desensitizes viewers to violence against women, is used to groom children for sexual abuse, etc…[Click here to read the full article].

We have just heard that Bill C-16 is scheduled for third vote in the Senate tomorrow, June 15th. If the bill passes, it will go on to receive royal assent and become law in Canada, allowing biological males into women’s washrooms, making it discrimination to speak out against the transgender lifestyle, and even potentially forcing Canadians to use new, made-up pronouns when speaking to or about individuals who identify as “transgender”.

Here is what we can do in these final hours before the vote:

This legislation would add the terms ‘gender identity’ and ‘gender expression’ to the Canadian Human Rights Act and Criminal Code and make it illegal to discriminate on the basis of these two categories, essentially allowing biological males the legal right to access girls’ washrooms/change rooms and forcing the use of a wide range of made-up pronouns such as “ze”, “zhe,” and “zir” for transgender individuals…[Click here to read the full article].

This event draws tens of thousands of people to our nation’s capital of Ottawa each year to be a public witness for life and to call on our government to implement legislation that protects the pre-born in Canada.

We have celebrated many victories against abortion in the United States in recent months. The issue of abortion has also been brought to the forefront of our own national discussion through the current Conservative Party leadership race. We believe, more than ever before, that now is the time for abortion legislation in Canada.

04.28.2017 – Apr. 28th, 2017 – New Report Proves Gender-Selective Abortions in Canada. Find out how You can Help Protect Baby Girls.

This week, another medical study proving that gendercide is happening in Canada was released.

Gendercide is the systematic practice of using sex-selective abortion to kill female babies in the womb simply because they are girls.

This week’s study provides more evidence of sex-selective abortions in Canada and also explains a few specific patterns that can be observed:

▪ The gender imbalance is most apparent when looking at children born to Indo-Canadian women.
▪ The strongest representation of women are those whose mother tongue is Punjabi.
▪ The imbalance persists no matter how long the women from India have lived in Canada…[Click here to read the full article].

04.13.2017 – Apr. 13th, 2017 – A Tragic Reminder: Still No Legal Protection for Canada’s Youngest Victims of Crime

The debate over pre-born victims of crime in Canada has tragically come to the forefront once again as the nation learned of the murder of 27-year-old Arianna Goberdhan and her pre-born baby in Pickering, Ontario this past weekend.

According to current Canadian law, a homicide has only been committed against a child if the child dies after becoming a human being; And the definition of when a child becomes human is only after he or she has fully proceeded from the body of its mother.

This means that although Arianna’s husband is facing charges for her death, he will not face charges for the death of his baby – just hours or days away from delivery – for which he is just as responsible.

This tragic news has once again forced Canadians to re-examine the obvious gap in Canadian law in addressing and defending pre-born victims of crime…[Click here to read the full article].

04.11.2017 – Apr. 11th, 2017 – Special Ontario Alert: Help Support the Freedom of Conscience of Healthcare Professionals to Refrain from Participating in Assisted Suicide

As of June 2016 assisted suicide became legal in Canada and provinces are now required to create provincial laws to reflect the new federal legislation, Bill C-16.

Ontario has put forward its proposal in the form of Bill 84. Unlike other provinces however, Ontario’s bill does not include conscience protection for physicians and medical professionals.

The single regulator of the medical profession in Ontario, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), is forcing doctors to ignore their conscience or to act in violation of it in their new policy on doctor conscience rights. Bill 84 does nothing to appropriately respond to the CSPO policy that doctors must provide effective referrals for assisted suicide if they refuse to perform the ’service’ themselves…[Click here to read the full article].

03.20.3017 – Mar. 20th, 2017 – Time-Sensitive: “Islamophobia” Motion 103 Debate Tomorrow // Your MP Will Vote Soon

MP Iqra Khalid’s Motion 103 was reportedly scheduled for its 2nd hour of debate in April, but has been pushed up to the earlier date of March 21st – tomorrow. The vote is expected to take place shortly afterward.

Click here to read our February National Update on M-103.

Prior to the motion’s first hour of debate last month, MP David Anderson put forward an opposition motion nearly identical to M-103. However, while M-103 mentions only the religion of Islam by name, Anderson’s motion called for the House to “condemn all forms of systemic racism, religious intolerance, and discrimination of Muslims, Jews, Christians, Sikhs, Hindus, and other religious communities.” Anderson also removed the undefined term “Islamophobia” from Khalid’s M-103[Click here to read the full article].

Last week, Ontario MPP Sam Oosterhoff – the province’s youngest MPP ever and a strong advocate for family values – held on to his seat despite a nomination challenge. Sam is wonderful; But his broad base of committed volunteers certainly also helped propel him to victory.

03.10.2017 – Mar. 10th, 2017 – NEW PERSONAL VIDEO From Our Director: Trudeau Announces Another $650 million to go Towards Abortion Internationally. An Important Window of Time to Respond.
