Freedom of speech, religion and conscience are continuously being challenged. With the passage of Bill C-14 and legalization of assisted suicide this year, one very important freedom has been largely overlooked: the freedom of conscience protection of medical professionals.
‘Safeguards’ protecting the freedom of conscience of doctors, nurses, and pharmacists who conscientiously object to assisted suicide are insufficient. We must stand up and speak out in defence of the freedom of medical professionals to refuse to participate.
