Trinity Western University continues to contend for its constitutional freedoms of association, conscience, religion and expression currently being challenged by law societies in British Columbia, Ontario, and Nova Scotia. Prior to this year, Appeals Courts ruled in favour of TWU in B.C. and Nova Scotia, and against TWU in Ontario. These decisions were recently appealed in each province and it seems the battle is headed to the Supreme Court in the near future.
TWU’S ONTARIO DEFEAT
The Ontario Court of Appeals ruled on June 29th that the province’s law society was reasonable in their decision to withhold accreditation from TWU students. The court acknowledged that TWU’s freedom of religion WAS infringed upon but ruled that it was justified! Not only is this disappointing but also deeply concerning as it demonstrates that our Chartered freedom of religion has become secondary to the demands of the LGBTQ community in Ontario….[Click here to read the full article].
